What we are witnessing in Georgia is an assault on our voting rights unlike anything we’ve seen since the Jim Crow era.

And just last week, Georgia State Representative Park Cannon was dragged out of the Georgia Capitol for protesting against SB 202, which dramatically diminishes the right to vote for millions of Georgians.

Just look at what this awful law does to Georgia’s voters:

• Cuts the time period voters have to request absentee ballots and imposes new identification requirements.
• Makes it easier for state officials to take over local elections boards.
• Limits the use of ballot drop boxes.
• Allows challenges to voting eligibility.
• Criminalizes any attempt to approach voters in line, even if only to give them food or water.

We have the power to protect the right to vote on a national level and expand voting rights before Far-Right Republicans like Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell and Brian Kemp destroy the very foundations of our Democracy.
