Give to Families in Crisis |
---|
It’s been exactly one month since Hurricane Dorian devastated the Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands, flattening communities, knocking out power, water and infrastructure resources and leaving over 76,000 people homeless. In the first days after the hurricane, Mercy Corps mobilized emergency teams to assess the areas of greatest need and distributed jugs of water and emergency kits containing essential items like solar lanterns, jerry cans and chlorine tablets to purify water. In the coming weeks, we’ll continue talking with local agencies and community leaders, working to determine the places where our resources will offer the most impact and supporting communities as they begin to recover and rebuild.
Mercy Corps team members distribute hundreds of bottles of water in Freeport in the Bahamas.
Right now, as families in the Bahamas recover from the devastation of Hurricane Dorian, Mercy Corps teams are helping hundreds more communities around the world living through crises caused by natural disaster, conflict and the devastating impacts of climate change. We created the Global Emergency Response Fund so we can respond immediately when the next crisis hits, without having to wait days or even weeks for the necessary funding. Drought in Kenya, hunger in Yemen and conflict and disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo are putting countless lives at risk. Help Mercy Corps respond to ongoing crises and be there when the next emergency strikes by making a gift of any amount to our Global Emergency Response Fund today. We’ve set a goal to raise $80,000 by October 7 to help Mercy Corps have the resources needed to take action when the next natural or man-made disaster plunges families into crisis. Here’s how your gift will be put into action: By giving to our Global Emergency Response Fund, you’re making sure we have resources on hand as soon as they’re needed, allowing our emergency teams to connect families in crisis with lifesaving support. Your gift to the Global Emergency Response Fund will help us:
Thank you for helping power this important work. Sincerely, Neal Keny-Guyer, Mercy Corps CEO |
