Dear Friend,
At a time when our state is dealing with the health, economic, and cultural effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, LGBTQ activist groups and their allies in the General Assembly have exposed their radical agenda for North Carolina by filing a number of bad bills <[link removed]> in the NC General Assembly:
- House Bill 449 <[link removed]> -Ā Prohibit Defense Based on Sex or Gender
- House Bill 450 <[link removed]> - Equality for AllĀ
- House Bill 451 <[link removed]> -Ā Full Repeal of HB2
- House Bill 452 <[link removed]> -Ā Mental Health Protection Act
The North Carolina Values Coalition believes every person should be treated with dignity and respect and our laws should protect constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of every citizen, no matter who they are. Unfortunately, these bills seek to implement coercive sexual orientation and gender identity (āSOGIā) laws that would undermine both fairness and freedom. Furthermore, these bills:
- Create unfair playing fields for girls in athletics, forcing them to compete against biological males who have an unfair advantage physically.
- Threaten the right of parents to raise their children consistently with their beliefs, instead mandating curriculum in schools that affirms and promotes gender ideology and depriving parents of the right to refuse harmful medical experiments that alter the God-given sex of their children.
- Harm efforts to find loving homes for kids in our nationās overloaded foster care system by forcing faith-based adoption and foster care providers to violate their beliefs or stop their important work.
People of faith should not be treated like second-class citizens, and that is exactly what these bills propose. They would override the fundamental right to exercise our religious beliefs and engage in free speech that our First Amendment guarantees. Disagreement is not discrimination, yet these bills target those whose views the LGBT groups donāt like rather than respecting a diversity of beliefs. These bills would ostracize and marginalize people who hold decent and honorable beliefs about marriage, sex, and gender.
Our state does not need, nor does it support, the radical extremism in these bad bills <[link removed]>. NC Values Coalition is urging our members to encourage their legislators not to fall into the trap of using government to punish citizens who disagree about marriage, sex, and gender by violating their fundamental rights of free speech and freedom of religion.
If you support the work the NC Values Coalition does fighting against bad bills like these at the General Assembly, would you consider making a $500, $250, $100, $75, $50, or $25 donation today towards our efforts? <[link removed]>

Sincerely,
Tami Fitzgerald
