Hi there:

Georgia just went backwards. Once a regional leader in civil rights, the state has just passed a dangerously restrictive new election law that will make voting harder for millions of voters.

This new law would restrict the use of drop boxes for people to deposit their absentee ballots, allow the state legislature to overrule election results, and even make it illegal to give water to someone standing in the hot Georgia sun to vote.

It's unfair, unjust, and unacceptable. And it should make everyone who cares about democracy mad. But we can’t just get mad. We have to do more. And we need to move forward.

Laws like the ones in Georgia can happen in Minnesota too. In fact, they've already been proposed, which is why as Secretary of State I’m working to remove as many barriers as possible for all eligible voters.

I could use your help so that I can keep doing that work. We’re facing a major end-of-quarter fundraising deadline tomorrow and we need to raise another $5k before then. Will you please consider a donation before the deadline and join in the work to protect voting rights?

Georgia's new law shows that we still have a lot of work to do in this country. I'm proud to be part of that work.

But I need your help before tomorrow’s fundraising deadline. I would be grateful for any support you can provide.

Steve
