Hey y’all –

In many ways it’s been a traumatic few years for transgender people in the South. Five years ago the NCGA passed the extreme and reckless HB2, vilifying transgender people and singling us out for discrimination. The Trump Administration waged an all-out assault on trans folks. And just this year, dozens of states are pushing bills that specifically target transgender youth for exclusion, with many bills becoming law in Southern states, including Tennessee and Mississippi and Arkansas.

These laws are hateful, but they do not define us and, more than anything, we are committed to standing alongside trans youth and making sure they know they are not alone.

This morning I was honored to tell a different story about LGBTQ life in the South. Lawmakers in North Carolina introduced a package of bills pushing for LGBTQ equality across our state, including statewide protections and a ban on so-called "conversion therapy."

The Campaign for Southern Equality is proud to be working with our partners at Equality NC to celebrate these bills and call for their passage. Will you help us keep up the fight in NC and other states across the South? Your donation of $25 makes a big difference. ([link removed])

North Carolina has come a long way since HB2, and we’re proud to have been a part of work. We’ve helped communities across NC unite to pass local nondiscrimination ordinances and successfully advocated for statewide policies ensuring that public schools affirm trans students by using their actual names.

We’ve been able to push forward in North Carolina, and we want to push forward in states all across the South. Can you help us sustain and elevate this organizing with your donation? Click here to make a contribution of $25, $50, or what you’re able to give. ([link removed])

Thanks for what you’re doing,
