Join us for the People's Day of Action

Hi Friend,

We’ll miss you when we’re out of office, but we’re taking time away from our screens tomorrow to observe Cesar Chavez Day — a holiday that honors the pursuit of social justice and equity in the workplace.

A trailblazer who mobilized agricultural workers in the California grape fields to fight for and win the first union contracts in the farming industry, Cesar Chavez led a labor movement that galvanized a generation of community organizers. Alongside the inspirational Dolores Huerta, Cesar Chavez co-founded the National Farm Workers Association, where the two civil rights activists began their mission to strengthen workers’ rights.

Cesar Chavez’s leadership brought issues of fair pay, work safety, collective bargaining rights, and many more protections for laborers to the national conversation about building a better future. Inspired by his legacy, community organizers everywhere embody his tenacious spirit and continue to serve the underserved.

That’s why tomorrow, we’re honoring a leader in activism who paved the way for coalitions like ours to make noise, demand more, and hold firm in our convictions.

Cesar Chavez demonstrated the impact of power-building within our communities. Let’s talk about how you can do the same. Organizing should be easy and accessible, but also safe in the era of COVID-19 — so we created infrastructure to empower anyone as an effective digital advocate.

Check out our website dedicated to equipping our volunteers with organizer trainings and toolkits.

On our site, you’ll find a step-by-step guide on how to join our amazing volunteer community, as well as direct links to sign and send letters to your representatives with the click of a button.

But, wait, there’s more. You’ll also find descriptions of and RSVP links to all of our weekly, recurring events. We host workshops that help you sharpen your organizing skills as well as a very popular coffee hour, where our volunteers engage in lively debates and dialogues about current events (over a cup of joe).

When we resume our regularly scheduled organizing, we hope you’ll drop by our virtual field office to follow in the footsteps of a great leader in advocacy who moved the needle toward equal opportunity in the workplace and beyond.

Let’s move forward together,
