But, this undisturbed wildlife sanctuary is threatened by Chilean mining conglomerate Antofagasta’s Twin Metals sulfide-ore copper mine at the edge of the watershed.
When waterways are contaminated, it jeopardizes the entire ecosystem and environment. The Twin Metals mine would severely impact entire fish and plant populations and harm the future offspring of many local mammals, including the loon, Minnesota’s state bird.
