Double Alert

Despite overwhelming opposition from Texas citizens to 'Ban the Bible' bills last legislative session, Democratic state legislators are pushing these highly controversial bills yet again during the current Texas Legislative Session.

Hiding under the disguise of "sexual orientation and gender identity" (SOGI) language, these bills would create new government power to ban the free expression of Christian beliefs, especially biblical teaching on marriage and sexuality.

The Democrat-led Texas House Urban Affairs Committee will hear two #BantheBible bills (HB 191 and HB 2045), TOMORROW, March 31 at 10:30 AM in room E1.026.

HB 191 by Rep. Diego Bernal (D) would have the effect of forcing religious homeless shelters to allow biological men to sleep next to women in abuse shelters. HB 2045 by Rep. Ray Lopez (D) would use your taxpayer dollars to create an LGBTQ task force made up exclusively of members of the LGBTQ community to create radical policies like seen in HB 191.

Here is how you can take action:

Our team will provide you all the support that you need, including talking points and step-by-step instructions. Please immediately contact us at [email protected] if you are able to attend the hearing to testify or have questions about submitting your public comment.

Yesterday, the Texas Senate passed the Texas Heartbeat Bill, SB 8, by Texas Senator Bryan Hughes to engrossment by a vote of 19-12. The Texas Heartbeat Bill requires physicians to check for a baby’s heartbeat and inform the mother if the presence of a heartbeat is detected. Once a heartbeat is detected, the doctor must take all necessary steps to protect the life of the child.

Yesterday's vote was historic - the Texas Senate took the first step forward in saving thousands of lives with the passage of SB 8.  A heartbeat is an essential indicator of life and every heartbeat deserves a chance to live that life abundantly. The bill must now pass the Texas House, where Rep. Shelby Slawson is carrying the House companion bill, HB 1515.
