Americans for Peace Now

Dear Friend,

As our second Passover seders in Covid-time wind down, we are struck by the differences from last year’s fraught, unsteady and sad moment of lockdown, trying to learn how to hold up the seder plate on a Zoom camera, to this year, screen sharing the Haggadah and feeling more than a glimmer of hope that our long time in the desert is coming to an end.

As we await a more hopeful spring and summer, we also are struck by the parallels of the Passover story and the 40 years since Americans for Peace Now was founded.

For 40 years, APN has been working towards a more peaceful future for Israelis and Palestinians. We have been advocating, marching, protesting, and doing everything in our power to educate our country’s leaders and the American Jewish community about what is needed for peace.

We also have been working side by side with our friends and colleagues in Israel – the extraordinary peace activists of Shalom Achshav – to determine the road ahead. And you have been with us every step of the way.

Today, as we start to move from seders to contemplating the anniversary of Israeli independence in two weeks, we wanted to share with you the beautiful note written to APN from the leaders and members of Shalom Achshav, helping us mark these 40 years of walking forward towards peace.

APN has touched both our lives so profoundly. It has been our lodestar for the Israel we want to see – a peaceful, just and democratic state.

You can read our thoughts about our many years at APN here. And we hope you will continue to support APN as we work together to build the next generation of peacemakers.

We both send you warmest wishes for a chag sameach, a happy and healthy spring, and a season of peace.

Sincerely,
