During these days of the Passover holiday we hope this email finds you and yours safe and healthy and that we are all seeing the light at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel. While over the past year our physical office has been closed, Ameinu has been active on many fronts. We’d like to provide you, our members and supporters, with an update. |
Programming
Over the course of the past 12 months, we have created high quality programming, both directly and through partners - like J-Link, the international network of progressive Jewish organizations, and Connect IL, our initiative to engage Israelis in the 25-40 age group living in America. Thousands of attendees have participated in programs online: discussing the upcoming Palestinian elections; learning about Jewish-Arab political cooperation; meeting newly elected Labor Party Chair Merav Michaeli; remembering the late prime minister Yitzhak Rabin with his son Yuval, and much more.
In April and May we are holding our first ever Virtual Israel Study Tour. Due to the inability to travel together to Israel and Palestine, we will bring the program to you via Zoom. Anyone who renews their membership at the $150 level or participates in our Shomrei Tzedek program at $12 monthly or more can attend the Tour for free. |
Advocacy
Ameinu continues to advocate for our values, both independently and collectively - through The Third Narrative, J-Link, Progressive Israel Network and the Jewish Social Justice Roundtable. Our statements and actions have included anti-Semitism, religious pluralism in Israel, Black Lives Matter, immigration, JNF-KKL and the ZOA… to name just a few.
I want to highlight our role as the U.S. representative on the Steering Committee of J-Link. Last summer, in an effort to block Netanyahu’s maneuver to unilaterally annex parts of the West Bank, Ameinu helped organize Jewish delegations to lobby Israeli diplomats all over the world.
We received extensive international press coverage and our efforts merited a response from Defense Minister Benny Gantz, confirming his concern about this issue. |
Israel-Palestine
Ameinu provides management services for Project Rozana USA, now an independent not-for profit that we launched in 2017. Project Rozana builds bridges of understanding between Israelis and Palestinians through healthcare. Last summer, as the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe, the West Bank and Gaza were particularly hard hit. In response to this challenge, Project Rozana, in coordination with the Foreign Ministry of the Palestinian Authority, launched an emergency international campaign for ICU-equipped ventilators - raising $800,000 to cover the acquisition, delivery and training for the necessary equipment and associated materials.
In order to continue these vital efforts, your involvement and support are critically needed. Therefore we hope you express your commitment and renew your Ameinu membership! Please go to our website and submit your dues of $50, $80 or $150, or send a check made out to Ameinu to our new address at: 17 State St. Suite 4000, New York NY 10004.
Thank you so much in advance. Best wishes for a happy Passover and may you and those you love! remain strong and healthy.
Sincerely, |
|
P.S. Renewing your membership at the $150 level will help immensely and provide you with free participation in our Virtual Israel Study Tour. |
