Hi, I'm reaching out with a quick update on the Texas Legislature.

As you may have heard, Republicans are pushing forward some truly heinous legislation in our state's House and Senate. In the last week alone, they've tried to gut what's left of our abortion access, ban trans kids from playing sports, and usher in the worst voter suppression laws since the Jim Crow era.

This is not what leadership looks like. No matter their party, our legislators are supposed to represent us. Instead, Texas Republicans consistently attack our communities and throw us under the bus every time there's a crisis. Personally, I'm mad as hell. And if you are too, I don't blame you.

The thing is, all of us have the power to fight back -- and we are taking that power and making the most of it. Our movement rallied more than a hundred Texans to testify against the voter suppression bills last week. Democratic state legislators are championing the legislation we need most -- from expanding quality, affordable healthcare for more Texans, to combating police brutality through the George Floyd Act. And together, we are uplifting the voices of abortion advocates, who carry this fight for all of us each day.

The more Republicans try to silence us, the louder we'll get. But we need your voice in the chorus. Will you rush your first $7 of 2021 to our Voter Protection Fund before our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline?
