IS YOUR RETIREMENT SAFE?

For those in Washington who favor out-of-control government spending, the COVID crisis has been a smoke screen to encourage out-of-control spending and entitlements. Some believe the recently passed $1.9 COVID relief bill to be the most fundamental boost to the welfare state since President Lyndon Johnson's Great Society measures and President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal.

For all the problems that face our country, excessive government spending is threatening our country's future viability – we at American Seniors Association strongly oppose passage of bills that increase our debt ceiling.

Excessive spending causes the decline of the fiscal health of the federal government and can lead to grave national security risks. This in turn reduces economic freedom and threatens prosperity.

For years, economists have warned lawmakers that high deficits and debt levels eventually would lead to economic collapse. When our government is consistently spending more than it receives in taxes, the debt service becomes the nation’s largest budget item, meaning there is no security for American seniors.

By fiscal year 2019, the federal government was spending $1 trillion per year more in inflation-adjusted terms than it had 10 years earlier. In fiscal year 2020, the federal government added nearly another $2 trillion of new spending in response to the pandemic, raising the national debt to 100 percent of our national income. This year, at least another trillion dollars of new spending appears to be on the way.

It's time for action from all concerned conservative citizens. Here at American Seniors Association we are advocating on your behalf in Washington.
