A little less than two weeks ago, we learned that we needed to raise $1.7 million before our end-of-quarter deadline to stay in this race.
Well, here’s what happened. This grassroots team stepped up in a major way and we hit that goal a day before the deadline -- exceeding all expectations.
So then, we really took a gamble and tried to see if we could raise $2 million by 11:59 p.m. last night. Not only did we hit $1.7 million, we ended up blowing past that goal and hit $2 million with hours left to spare.
And as of midnight, that number had grown to $2,159,165.34.
I wasn’t going to remain in this race if there wasn’t a viable path forward to grow and win. But now, thanks to the support of you and so many thousands of people across this country, there is.
There have been so many who’ve doubted us along the way. But, it’s never been enough to stop us. We’ve had to hustle for everything we’ve earned -- whether it was securing our spot on the debate stage or overcoming this massive end-of-quarter fundraising goal.
I’m in this race to win it, team. In just a couple of hours, you’ll be hearing from my campaign manager, Addisu, about the critical investments we’ll be making that allow us to continue growing our campaign in the way we need to compete to win the nomination.
Brick by brick -- through small-dollar donations of $3, $10, $20 -- we were able to reach a goal that at first seemed insurmountable. It really is difficult to put into words how deeply inspired and motivated I am by every member of this team uniting around our shared goal.
Our achievement today shows the power of what we can accomplish when we join together and work together: we rise together.
I’m so fortunate to be on this journey with you by my side. We started this campaign eight months ago to this very day. It’s clear that we’ve come a long way since then -- and I sincerely believe that the best is still yet to come.
