House Holds Historic Hearing on the Muslim Ban

After the tireless efforts of advocates like YOU, the House held its first hearing on President Trump's Muslim Ban. On September 24, the hearing highlighted the human impact of the Ban along with a government panel to shed light on the disproportionate rejection rate of visa waivers. In conjunction with submitted testimony for congressional records, Wa'el Alzayat, CEO, joined a list of former security experts rebuking the false pretense of national security as a reason for the Ban.

The hearing emphasized the importance of Congress passing H.R. 2214 and S. 1123 - National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants Act (NO BAN Act). This bill would repeal the Muslim ban, amend the Immigration and Nationality Act’s nondiscrimination provision to explicitly prohibit discrimination based on religion, and limit overreach by the federal government’s executive branch to introduce future, similar bans.

Our efforts are clearly working. The countless calls to your officials, lobbying to repeal the Ban, and protesting against the unjust policies of this Administration are being heard. CLICK HERE to write your members TODAY and urge them to co-sponsor and help pass the NO BAN Act.

Protecting Kashmir

Since August 5, India has instituted a complete lock-down in Kashmir, added nearly 40,000 additional Indian troops to the 600,000 who were already there and cut-off internet and telephone communications. This has rendered people isolated from each other and the outside world. Political leaders have been detained and freedom of movement has been restricted, leaving people to die from hunger or lack of medical attention. There are now troubling reports of civilians being detained and tortured by Indian military forces.

There is a humanitarain crisis in Kashmir and we are urging our leaders to address the immediate needs of the people in the region. Specifically to restore means of communication, to allow aid to flow freely into the region and to release individuals who were wrongfully detained during the lockdown.

Join our efforts and advocate for Congressional action to protect Kashmir from futher abuses. CLICK HERE to contact your officials TODAY.

House Passes Burma Act Passes, Now to the Senate

On September 24, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 3190 - Burma Unified through Rigorous Military Accountability Act by a 394 to 21 vote. Thanks to your hardwork, this vote happened and Congress is one step closer to helping protect the rights of the Rohingya. This bill aims to impose tough sanctions on Burma's military and hold them accountable for the horrific human rights abuses against the Rohingya.

Now it's time to focus our efforts to the Senate and continue our advocacy. We are urging the Senate to pass S. 1186 - Burma Human Rights and Freedom Act

It is vital that the United States acts now to end the repression and violence against the ethnic Rohingya. CLICK HERE and urge your Sentors to support and pass S. 1186!

Uyghur Rights Need YOUR Support

The United States has a responsibility to firmly stand against the Chinese state’s shockingly brutal attempt to not only eradicate Islam in China, but to also punish Chinese citizens for peacefully practicing their faith.

We are urging Congress and the White House to condemn and sanction senior Chinese officers, such as the Communist Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Chen Quanguo and to urge American companies to not conduct any business that may contribute to the abuse of Uyghur Muslims.

On September 11, the Senate passed S. 178 - Uyghur Rights Policy Act. We now need to urge the House to pass its companion, H.R. 649. CLICK HERE to urge your Representatives to support and vote for the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act.
