Hey John -

Happy belated Passover to all who celebrate. Special thanks to everyone who joined us for our Women’s Leadership Forum last week. It was incredible to hear the varying experiences and advice from Jamie Lockhart, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia, Christen Hebrard, DNC member, Officer at YDA, & Board Member at CYD, and Atima Omara, President of Omara Strategy Group. We’d also like to thank Praveen Meyyan, Democratic Asian American of Virginia Chair, for taking the time to come and talk about the tragedy in Atlanta, the uptick in violence against AAPI communities this past year, and what we can do to help.

There are many ways we can #StopAsianHate together. Do your part to uplift the Asian American community and hold yourself and your community accountable by talking about the intersections of racism and sexism and what can be done to dismantle the systems that further white supremacy. You can also seek out and support mutual aid networks and start by donating here [[link removed]] . In addition, the recent incidents of gun violence in Henrico [[link removed]] and Virginia Beach [[link removed]] , followed by those last week in Atlanta and Boulder, show that we must push reform now more than ever to quell this violent epidemic. Contact your representatives [[link removed]] to make sure your voice is heard.

With all that said, we hope you will join us for several events this April, such as our Earth Day Trivia Night and our Green New Deal Forum. Don’t forget to also register for VAYD Convention [[link removed]] by April 10th.

AYD Earth Day Trivia Night [[link removed]]
Join AYD for our Earth Day Trivia Night!

Our Housing, Environment, & Infrastructure Caucus Chair Nicole Merlene will be hosting this virtual event full of facts about the environment from the local to the worldwide level! No need to form teams beforehand, we will assign folks upon arrival so everyone feels welcome.

There will be four rounds of trivia with seven questions in each round. After every round, you will be put in a breakout room with your assigned team to deliberate and submit questions before coming back to the main room. Prizes to be announced! Feel free to hang around and chat after trivia to get to know your fellow Young Dems as well.

Hope to see you there!

AYD Fights Period Poverty [[link removed]]
In honor of Women’s History Month, AYD is gathering donations for BRAWS: Bringing Resources to Aid Women's Shelters [[link removed]] , an organization that provides menstrual supplies to women and girls in our community. A donation of $250 buys 25 boxes of pads or tampons for a PTA-sponsored school pantry, allowing students to access menstrual products discreetly.

Help us get to our $250 goal by April 9th! Give whatever you can afford, all donations help!

Venmo AYD: @ArlingtonYoungDems

If you don’t have Venmo, you can donate to BRAWS directly through their Amazon Wishlist [[link removed]] . Just make sure to send us a screenshot of your contribution so we can count it toward our goal!
