Tomorrow, March 30, at 8:00 am PT, applications for the City of Los Angeles' Emergency Rent Relief Program will open again. The city has $235 million to distribute to Angelenos who have been hit hardest by this economic crisis thanks to the American Rescue Plan that my colleagues and I passed in Congress.

Angelenos without internet access can apply by phone and submit documents at any FamilySource Center, including the following ones in our district:

Also included in the American Rescue Plan is money to help cover COVD-19-related funeral expenses. Beginning in April, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will begin accepting applications for funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020.

The death must have occurred in the United States and assistance is limited to $9,000 per funeral. If you plan on using this relief, please gather the following documentation:

• An official death certificate that attributes the death to COVID-19
• Funeral expense documents (receipts, funeral home contract, etc.)
• Proof of funds received from other sources, including burial or funeral insurance

Just last week, the U.S. Senate voted to extend the deadline for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) applications from March 31 to May 31, 2021. The Biden Administration has made this program more accessible to underserved communities and people of color.
