John,
Today, I’m asking you to split a $3 donation between my dear friend Senator Raphael Warnock’s and my campaigns.
We’re both facing extremely tough re-elections. National Republicans have said that they will spend and say whatever it takes to try to defeat us because the path to the Senate and House majorities runs through Georgia.
Our journeys to running for office are different, but the values and beliefs we learned along the way are shared. We were both steeped in the traditions of faith and a legacy of fighting for civil rights.
Before winning his Senate race in January, Reverend Warnock was the Senior Pastor — preaching and serving from the same pulpit as Martin Luther King Jr. He understood the power of his platform and positioned and used it to fight for change for Georgians.
My story started growing up as the daughter of a civil rights leader — going to protests with my dad, the head of the Illinois chapter of the NAACP. And after my son Jordan was murdered, it is my faith that helped me channel my pain into purpose. I forgave his killer and was called back to activism.
Both of us defeated Republicans and became the first Black leaders to hold our seats, but we need grassroots support to win again. Georgia Republicans have made clear that they will do whatever it takes — even change our election laws — to try to defeat us. So we need your help to fight back:
Thank you for all you do for our movement and our democracy. The progress we’ve made would not be possible without your activism and your faith in Georgia.
