Folks, I am going to be direct with you.

I am counting on your support before this week’s FEC fundraising deadline to fight back against the anti-democratic assault sweeping our nation. Will you stand with me?

Last week, Georgia’s Republican governor signed into law a bill designed to disenfranchise the communities of color that organized and voted to flip their state blue. The law is so egregious in its attempt to undermine democratic participation that Stacey Abrams called it “Jim Crow 2.0.”

The Georgia organizers who inspired record Democratic turnout won by spreading a message of hope, peace, and justice to carry us forward after a dark four years.

We hadn’t even celebrated the hard-fought victories in January’s runoff elections when insurrectionists were storming the Capitol the very next day.

The insurrectionists chanted “hang Mike Pence” and sought out Speaker Nancy Pelosi while Capitol Police barricaded us from the violent mob. A gallows was erected on the Capitol lawn.

Republican senators witnessed the chaos and destruction that Trump’s insurrection wrought. Most voted to acquit him, not only denying our nation justice, but also providing cover for hundreds of anti-democratic bills to advance through state legislatures across the country with the phony excuse of voter fraud.

The signing of Georgia S.B. 202 into law is proof that we must defend every vulnerable Democratic incumbent to keep our majority in 2022. If we do not, we will continue to see our democracy backslide.

We will bring legislation to the Senate floor to end this cowardly anti-democratic assault on free and fair elections, but that alone is not enough.

Will you stand with me before the FEC deadline to help defend our democracy and Senate majority? I would not ask if it weren’t so vitally important.

These are challenging times for our country, but I know that we can emerge from them stronger if we stand together.

Thank you,
