Here's what we know about the state of Ohio politics: Despite our best efforts in 2020, we weren't able to overcome the power of Republican super PACs, gerrymandering, and voter suppression to flip the state blue. And despite the hard work of Democratic candidates across Ohio, the Ohio State legislature remains under the control of Republican extremists.
It's easy to get discouraged by what we didn't do during the last election, but we have to keep looking forward to our future. We have new leadership and we have a new plan to flip Ohio blue, but we need your help, team. Because here's the thing: Ohio isn't a red state. It's a RIGGED state.
Here's what we have to do: 2021 is about laying the groundwork for the 2022 midterms to win the Governor's office and the open US Senate seat. 2021 is also about building a foundation that sets Ohio Democrats up for long term success, not just in 2022, but for the next decade. Winning elections is about planning ahead. We know that if we start investing in key races and reaching more voters now, we'll have a better chance at getting more voters registered, turning out more votes, and inspiring a new generation of Ohioans to take action.
Here's how we turn Ohio blue: This Wednesday, we're facing our first end-of-quarter fundraising deadline of the new year. Today, we're launching The Blue Ohio Future Fund to help lay the foundation for an Ohio where Democrats win up and down the ballot, in every corner of the state. We set a goal to raise $50,000 to fill our Blue Ohio Future Fund to help us start our voter outreach and organizing.
Early investments win campaigns, so we're reaching out to our best supporters (that's you!) today to help us get started. Before our deadline on Wednesday, pitch in $3 or more to help us hit our $50,000 end-of-quarter goal. Every dollar we raise goes directly toward electing Ohio Democrats up and down the ballot.
