Over the next few days, my team and I will be reaching out with some important requests. Will you give me a minute to explain why they are so important?
Our first FEC fundraising deadline of 2021 is coming up this Monday at midnight. Our goal is to secure 25,000 donations by then, and it’s crucial that we don’t fall short.
It’s always important for us to hit our goals, but this one is especially so. Right now, any donation you make will go straight towards our efforts to urge the Senate to bring universal background checks up for a debate and vote. The sooner we can achieve that, the sooner we can save lives.
That’s why we need to dig deep and hit this goal by Wednesday. The more people who chip in and show their support, the better chance we have at passing this legislation in the Senate and putting it on President Biden’s desk.
Right now, my team tells me we’re still a little behind on our goal. But if we can pick up the pace before Wednesday, I think we can get there. So, I have to ask:

Our goal doesn’t come from nowhere — it’s the amount of donations we have calculated we need to push for this gun safety legislation and prove that there is ample support for universal background checks.
And right now, timing is everything. We’ve experienced multiple tragedies in March that have reignited the national conversation around gun safety. We can’t afford to wait until the next tragedy to act. The time for action is now.
