Hi,
I wanted to offer a few words of hope.
As Chief of Staff here at the Texas Democratic Party, I often get a bird's-eye view of the ecosystem that is our movement -- and I've got to say, it's a privilege. Every day, I get to watch Texas Democrats come together to be greater than the sum of our parts -- our champions in the state legislature, Democrats from the county judge's office to Congress, activists and advocates who just don't quit, tireless staff supporting them, and folks from all over Texas speaking up and speaking out.
If our work feels urgent, that's because it is. These days, it feels like Texas Republicans are attacking just about everyone and everything -- whether it's immigrants and trans kids, or voting rights and abortion care.
But as rough as it is to watch our communities get attacked, you know what feels more powerful? It's seeing the way this big, diverse movement comes together to fight back as one. We saw this last week at the Texas Capitol, when people drove hours to give their testimony about how Republican voter suppression bills will harm Texas communities. When Republicans tried to shut us out from giving our testimony, we organized -- and held a citizens hearing to show that we will not be silenced when it comes to defending our right to vote.
Never doubt it for a moment: our movement is changing Texas -- whether it's small-dollar donors, neighborhood volunteers, or the 200 Texans who came to testify about our voting rights last week.
