Permit Arlington, the new online system for filing permit applications with Arlington County, launched earlier this month. Like so many residents and businesses, the Arlington Chamber of Commerce has been looking forward for several years to seeing this tool come online. Permit Arlington has promised a more streamlined application process which we hoped would lead to increased efficiency.
Unfortunately, the Arlington County government is not offering a faster turn-around time for permits filed via the new system, despite increasing technology fees for filing. The Chamber wrote a letter to the County Board expressing disappointment that the cost has gone up, but service response has remained the same. We hope that the County government will work to reduce turn-around times for permit applications, and look forward to proving input into an improved permitting process.
