Help the ACLU extend empowerment through political power.

Friend –

Black voter turnout in the November elections and Georgia runoff elections in January reached heights many thought were impossible. And that turnout led to historic victories across the country.

But in the wake of these turnout levels, lawmakers are doing all they can to suppress the vote – just last week, Georgia passed a law imposing sweeping new voting restrictions across the state. It's clear there remain some hard truths: We have an imbalance in political power in America, and Black and Brown people continue to face barriers that block full access to our democracy.

That's why the ACLU, as one of the four pillars of our Systemic Equality agenda, is fighting on multiple fronts to Extend Empowerment – by knocking down those barriers, making our democracy more inclusive, and empowering more local advocates and activists.

You can play a part in this fight – and the fight for all civil liberties – by making a generous gift to the ACLU now to help us reach our goal of $500,000 by midnight on March 31. <[link removed]>

Key to our inclusion and empowerment efforts is building power in the South, a region where vulnerable communities are most affected by local and national regressive policies. Over the next two years, the ACLU will increase its investment directly in 12 southern states to grow our southern ACLU affiliates' work on strengthening voting rights and democracy, ensuring reproductive justice in Black and Brown communities, and fighting for reparations.

We're also working to address the legacy of voter suppression and to secure the right to vote, particularly for voters of color who continue to be targeted by suppressive tactics.

Additionally, we're implementing a strategy that combines data analytics and maps with advocacy and litigation to ensure that redistricting is done in a manner that does not minimize representation of voters of color in our communities.

ACLU Supporter, President Biden already issued an executive order largely adopting our recommendations on voting rights, including improvements to voter registration and ensuring access to the ballot for voters in federal custody. But success on all our priorities will take work. I'm confident we'll achieve our goals though – because I'm confident in supporters like you.

Your gift will go toward our $500,000 goal and mean so much to our teams on the ground driving the Systemic Equality agenda and other crucial efforts. Please show that you're with us – make your generous gift today. <[link removed]>

Sincerely,
