GOP Senator Tom Cotton recently went on Fox News to demand President Biden return to what Cotton called Trump's "highly effective" immigration policies -- including throwing unaccompanied children into cages.

Republicans are desperate to score political points with immigration -- so let's stick to the facts.

Biden is dealing with the aftermath of four years of the Trump's inhumane policies: separating families, throwing children into inhumane facilities, forcing people fleeing violence to risk being killed while waiting for amnesty -- all culminating in a 690% surge of unaccompanied children in Trump's last nine months in office.

Republicans are now attacking Biden for not turning these children away outright, as Trump's administration often did. Instead Biden is working to implement a system that will much more quickly process asylum cases.

While Kevin McCarthy and other Trump lackeys have been parading around the border for publicity and claiming we suddenly have a "crisis of illegal aliens," the Biden administration has doubled down on the basic fact that immigrants are human beings, no matter how hard Republicans try to demonize them.

Our country was created to be a safe haven for those fleeing persecution and seeking a better life for themselves and their families. But we know the GOP's narrative is rapidly taking hold.
