Have you ever heard of “Omega House”?

It’s sort of hilarious -- it’s what Senator Dick Durbin called the house he used
to live in with Chuck Schumer on Capitol Hill for more than 30 years. It was a
crash pad for when they were in D.C. for work, famously with broken stoves and
freezers, cereal boxes on the counter, and sheets for curtains.

It sounds unlivable but the truth was that both of them were so focused on work
and serving the American people that it didn’t matter. It got them up early and
out the door, back to the Senate to get work done. That’s who Chuck is, and it’s
who he’s always been -- he has a goal, and he focuses in on it come hell or high
water until it’s completed.

That’s how he is about our end-of-quarter fundraising goal on Wednesday: We set a $50,000 goal, and he asks me every single day how close we are to
hitting it. I’ll tell you what I told him this morning: We’re $18,907 short.
