One Nation Remains Committed To Merit Selection

One Nation is set to become one of the last federal parties in Parliament with a policy of selecting candidates on merit after the Prime Minister announced that he was “very open” to the Liberal party enforcing strict candidate gender quotas.

This decision comes as numerous Liberal Party MPs spoke publicly about the need for their party to abandon its long-held position on merit selection and embrace Labor/Green style gender quotas.

With the Liberal party caving once again can people really be blamed for wondering whether there is a single principle the Liberal Party won’t abandon when faced with a little bit of pressure?

Rest assured One Nation remains steadfast in its commitment to the principles of merit selection as we do with all our core beliefs.

This is because One Nation is a party that defends its principles regardless of how loud our political opponents, media talking heads, or keyboard warriors on Twitter complain.

Simply put, a party that cannot defend a principle as basic as merit selection cannot be trusted to defend anything.

Whether we are fighting climate change alarmism, reigning in immigration rates, battling to build more dams or protecting your children from indoctrination in schools, One Nation wants the best candidate for the job regardless of their gender.

One Nation Forces Cootamundra- Gundagai Regional Council Demerger Decision

The commitment from One Nation members to listen to and fight for the people they were elected to represent was on full display last week after the NSW upper house passed a motion from One Nation’s Rod Roberts calling for the demerging of the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council.

“Demerging the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council is just plain common sense. I am proud to have represented the locals in the NSW Parliament and am extremely happy that the motion was carried by the majority of the house,” Mr Roberts said.

“After Mayor Abb McAlister reached out to me I went to see his council and hear his concerns regarding the problems that have arisen from the forced amalgamation.”

“Gundagai and Cootamundra are two proud and independent towns that should never have been amalgamated into a single council.”

The One Nation motion to demerger the two towns will now pass to the NSW Lower House for consideration.

Government Considering Covid-19 “No Jab No Play” And “No Jab No Pay” Policies

Questioning for One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts during Senate Estimates has revealed that while ruling out “mandatory” covid-19 vaccinations the Federal Government is leaving the door open to covid-19 “No Jab No Play” and “No Jab No Pay” policies.

When asked by Senator Roberts if the Government had the power to implement a mandatory vaccination policy the answer from Secretary of the Department of Health, Dr Brendan Murphy, was a clear no.

However, What was made clear was the Government does intend to penalise individuals who don’t receive a covid-19 jab through other means.

“ We take the approach that we want to encourage, promote and provide the evidence for vaccination….with again, mostly enforced by the States and territories, with no jab no play and government policy with no jab, no pay.” Dr Murphy said.

The extent to which Government plans to punish those who have not received a covid-19 vaccination isn’t yet clear and in a public statement Senator Roberts explained One Nation’s opposition to any broad restriction being forced on those who haven't received a covid-19 jab

“Even though the government says they don’t want to mandate vaccination, they haven’t ruled out attaching it to everyday activities. That means they won’t rule out that you might have to be vaccinated to go to the pub which sounds as good as mandating it to me,” Senator Roberts said.

Until the Government intentions are clear, One Nation will continue to force them to be open and transparent about any plan to coerce or penalise Australians who have not received a covid-19 jab.

The full transcript of Senator Roberts' exchange with the Department of Health can be found on his website.
