Hello!
What do you see when you picture life on the farm? Green grass, blue skies, and baby animals frolicking in the fields with their mothers?
The truth might shock you. For over 99% of animals who are raised for food, the reality is very different.
This is what life really looks like in America’s factory farms. But luckily, you can be the change.
Chickens raised for meat are bred to suffer. Sometimes their legs break under their enormous weight, and they are slaughtered when they are just six weeks old.
Hours after being born, a baby cow is ripped from his mother so her milk can be harvested for human consumption. He’ll either be killed immediately, or be kept unable to move more than a few steps until he is slaughtered at just a few months of age for the veal industry.
Mother pigs are cruelly confined to crates barely larger than their own bodies for most of their lives. When their bodies are too worn out to keep producing babies, they are sent to slaughter, a journey many do not survive.
You have the power to stop this.
When you make a gift to The Humane League, you’re making real change for animals. You’re creating a world where chickens can spread their wings and baby cows can stretch their legs, where piglets get to grow up with their mothers and have the chance to play in the sun and roll in the grass. You’re making this a reality.
World Farm Animals Day is Wednesday. Make a gift in honor of the animals. Together, we can be the change.
