The NRA is not only spreading lies, John, they’re putting American lives at risk by fighting lifesaving legislation like expanded Brady background checks and an assault weapons ban. Here are the facts:

-In shootings where assault weapons or high-capacity magazines are used, 155 percent more people are shot and 47 percent more people are killed.
-From 1994-2004, when an assault weapons ban was in effect,
there was a 37% decrease in gun massacre.
-When an assault weapons ban was in effect, there was a 70% decrease in assault weapons traced to crime.

AR-15 assault weapons are designed for mass destruction — to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. That’s why they are consistently the weapon of choice for mass shooters. And for decades, the NRA has been trying to stop common-sense gun violence prevention legislation from becoming law, and we can't let their deadly campaign continue, John:
