John,
They restrict our access to the ballot box.
They arrest us when we question injustice.
All across the country our right to vote is under assault.
From the state of Georgia — where the GOP arrested a Black female lawmaker for knocking on the Governor's office door while he was signing a voter suppression bill into law — to Texas, where Elections Committee Chairman Briscoe Cain refused to let Representatives of color ask questions during the HB 6 hearing, it is clear that Republicans are advocating for Jim Crow 2.0.
But make no mistake about it, we will crawl over broken glass to keep what is ours. We will fight for our right to vote!If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

State leaders in Texas plan to advance HB6 and SB7 to justify their intent to eviscerate the right of all Texans to have fair, equal, and legal access to the ballot box. These bills, if passed, are specifically aimed to suppress minority voter turnout. They will undermine the ability of local election officials to encourage voter participation and they create new barriers for voters themselves. The latest draft literally requires a doctor's note for people with disabilities to be eligible to vote by mail.
We can’t let these unpatriotic attacks on the foundation of our country continue. As the Chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, I choose to fight back. [[link removed]]
Earlier this year, I joined my colleagues to pass the For the People Act (H.R.1), a sweeping anti-corruption package designed to protect voting rights. And when the vote comes, I will again proudly join my colleagues in the House of Representatives to advance the John Lewis Voting Rights Restoration Act.
Now, the Senate must use every tool they can to swiftly pass these crucial voting rights measures so President Biden can sign them into law. It is clear there are state leaders willing to use discriminatory voter suppression tactics to keep a grasp on power.
Choose to fight back with me — your right to vote is worth contacting as many Senators as you can to let them know the people are watching. Some of them still need to feel the pressure.
Fighting Back,
Marc Veasey
