According to a new report, in just her first term in office, Rep. Rashida Tlaib ranked as the second most effective lawmaker among the Michigan House delegation!¹

She ranked just behind Rep. Debbie Dingell, a close friend and ally of Rashida who serves in House leadership. Both Congresswomen are progressive leaders, so these findings demonstrate that progressive lawmaking works.

The findings come from the Center for Effective Lawmaking, which measures which legislators have been most effective at moving their policies through Congress. In her first term in office, Rashida introduced 23 bills, four of which moved in congressional committees, two of which passed in the House, and one was signed into law—under the Trump administration, no less!

Here’s what these findings make clear: Pushing bold progressive policies is effective at changing people’s lives immediately, not just in the long-term. And it’s the direction Congress must go in.
