** In the News: South Carolina Subcommittee passes Convention of States Resolution
------------------------------------------------------------

We have great news from the Palmetto State!
Not only did a South Carolina subcommittee pass the Convention of States Resolution (as we reported last week ([link removed]) ), but state news agencies are starting to take notice.
FITS News ran an article ([link removed]) covering the victory, and they predicted future success for our Resolution.
For the second year in a row, a bill that would call for an Article V convention – or “convention of states” – is making its way through the South Carolina House of Representatives. This year’s legislation – H. 3205 – cleared a House judiciary subcommittee on Thursday and is now headed to the full judiciary committee for approval. [...]
Most observers believe bill has sufficient support to pass the GOP-controlled chamber this year – as evidenced by the fact it currently has 53 sponsors (including powerful speaker of the House Jay Lucas). [...]
This year... Republican lawmakers appear to be rallying around H. 3205 exclusively. In fact, the bill was recently included as part of a conservative “pushback agenda” led by state representative Bill Taylor of Aiken, S.C.
According to Taylor, the bill “is the lawful path to rein-in the federal government,” or as he called it “the needed rebellion without bullets.”
As of this writing, fifteen states have passed Article V legislation with the “approved” language. Another eight states have seen bills containing this language clear at least one chamber of their respective legislatures. Finally, “approved” Article V legislation has been introduced in another fifteen states – including South Carolina.
Could South Carolina become the 16th state to pass the Convention of States Resolution? Only time will tell, but our team in that state has worked tirelessly to get to this point, and we couldn't be happier with their efforts.
They've formed relationships with their legislators, rallied their friends and neighbors, and testified powerfully in committee hearings. They've answered calls to action and organized rallies and events. They're a great example of how citizens can influence their state legislators--and you can, too!
