** The AmeriCorps VISTA program is a huge opportunity for New Orleans.

This week, the City of New Orleans announced the start of the citywide AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program. This program will help our communities, bolster the local economy, and provide New Orleanians with great job opportunities.

The program includes 10 current full-time members and 11 upcoming full-time members across 16 different departments and in the City Council District C. The City is also currently accepting applications for seven VISTA Summer Associates who serve a 10-week term to help prevent summer learning loss in the community.

This is a fully funded grant program from the federal government, so New Orleans will receive many benefits at no additional cost to local taxpayers.

If you or anyone you know is interested in this program, the city is accepting applications now. We look forward to seeing New Orleanians get involved!
