NEW: Republicans' will launch a legislative initiative if their voter suppression bills aren't signed into law

Breaking news — Following Georgia's lead, Michigan Republicans just introduced over a dozen bills aimed at suppressing the vote. These bills are nothing more than Jim Crown in new clothes. Here's a fraction of what Michigan Republicans are trying to get away with:

  • Require applicants for absentee ballots to present a copy of identification

  • Overhaul large counties' canvassing boards

  • Bar Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson from sending absentee ballot applications to voters unless they specifically request the applications

But they aren't stopping there, friend. If Governor Gretchen Whitmer vetoes their voter suppression efforts — and she already confirmed she would — the Michigan GOP vowed to gather the signatures necessary for a petition initiative so it can become law.

The stakes couldn't be any higher. If you can, please make an urgent donation of $10 before our FEC deadline to combat Republican voter suppression efforts.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Protecting the right to vote isn't just an election year issue, which is why we have a year-round voter protection program dedicated to defending our democracy.

But these programs also require a tremendous amount of support to be effective. None of this would be possible without the generosity of Democrats like you — and right now, with the GOP waging an all-out assault on voters' access to the ballot box, now is not a time for us to scale back.

That's why I'm turning to you, friend. Will you rush a $10 donation before our FEC deadline so that we have the resources we need to fight the GOP and elect Democrats up and down the ticket?

Thanks for stepping up,
