As Chuck Schumer’s digital director, technology obviously really matters to me.

I’m always online on my phone, but something I learned quickly about Chuck is
that, well, he’s not. That’s because he’s infamously refused to upgrade to a
smartphone from his flip phone. He says, “I can reach every member of my caucus
with this, I don’t need a smartphone to do that.”

He’s right -- when our majority is 50-50, it’s all about relationships. And it’s
clearly working, because we’ve seated almost every member of President Biden’s
cabinet, we held an impeachment trial, and we passed the American Rescue Plan --
all in barely three months.

This kind of progress was never possible with Mitch McConnell in charge. But to
keep it going, we have to protect and grow our slim 50-50 majority, and that’s
what Wednesday’s FEC end-of-quarter deadline is all about.
