When we reached out a couple weeks ago asking you to co-sign President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, we were incredibly energized by how many folks took action.

Gathering public support for the stimulus package was critical in helping get it across the finish line, so I wanted to reach out and personally say thank you for using your voice on behalf of our community. This victory happened because of you.

Over the coming days and weeks, the following initiatives will be rolled out as part of the recovery plan:

• Direct cash payments to working families have already started to be sent out to help millions of people, especially those who are out of work and struggling to pay bills;
• Support for vaccines and testing will kick into high gear around the country as we work to save lives and achieve herd immunity;
• Funding for schools and child care to make sure we’re taking care of our kids and prioritizing the safety of our teachers;
• Enhanced unemployment benefits for families who are struggling to find work and need our help;
• Expanded food assistance to ensure that no one is going hungry or rationing food as we climb out of this crisis;
• Rent and mortgage relief because no one should have to worry about whether they can afford to keep a roof over their head during a pandemic;
• Assistance for restaurants and the smallest of small businesses so they can stay open and continue serving our communities.

I know how important these initiatives are going to be for so many across the Commonwealth. I am especially eager to deliver this relief to working families and small businesses across the Third District. People are hurting all over the country and I am so grateful for your help in passing the American Rescue Plan.
