Spring has finally sprung and we are firmly headed towards summer. This week provided an opportunity to take stock of a year since lockdown began and the profound impact that has had on all our lives.
International Women's Day

International Women's Day was a fantastic day of empowerment. Our event, Women Leading the Way, was a unique opportunity to hear from some of these leaders. Hundreds of you tuned in to listen to discussion between Dame Heather Rabbatts, Maria Miller MP, Claire Cohen and Hannah Barham-Brown. You can now watch the whole event to catch up on anything you might have missed or watch again the fantastic empowering words and advice provided by these leaders.

Metro Mayor Hustings

Over the last few weeks we have been able to host hustings for the local mayors in Greater Manchester and in the West Midlands. These hustings have allowed candidates to share what they will do to support equality for women and girls in the region. Together with our partners GM4Women we produced a Greater Manchester Manifesto for Women and Girls. Read it now to understanding what we are asking from the mayoral candidates.

Make Women Visible

A year on since the UK went into lockdown, we have been reflecting on the profound impact of the coronavirus pandemic on our lives and the lives of everyone across the country. Our diarists shared with us what they have been most proud of this year - from learning to set up a printer, to still being on speaking terms with housemates - read about the things that have made them proud and share your own.

We know the pandemic has exacerbated existing inequalities and last week we produced a report which highlighted the impact on disabled parents. Findings show that disabled mothers are three times more likely to have lost work during the pandemic. Read the briefing below.
