John, the struggle for voting rights continues.
Last night, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed SB 202 — one of the most anti-democratic and restrictive voting rights bills in the country — into law. Here's what the bill signing looked like behind closed doors:
And here's what happened when Georgia State Representative Park Cannon started knocking on Governor Kemp's door to see the bill signing for herself:
Georgia Republicans know the biggest threat to their power are the Black, Brown, and new voters who turned out for the general and runoff elections — which is why since 2017, WFP has gone all-in on building progressive infrastructure across the state. And while the passage of this bill is a setback, we're sure as hell not going to stop now.
The road to winning a government that works for the many runs directly through states like Georgia. Can you rush a contribution of $5 or more to help the Working Families Party keep up the fight in the Peach State?

Republicans claim their bill will "protect election integrity," but here's what it really means for Georgia voters:
-
Burdensome new ID requirements for absentee voting
-
A ban on non-poll workers giving food or water to voters waiting in long lines
-
Tight restrictions on the use of absentee ballot drop boxes
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Thankfully, some of the worst items on the Republican voter suppression wishlist were left out of the final bill — due in no small part to the Georgia Working Families Party's work on the ground with partners like the New Georgia Project and mobilization texts we sent to Georgians driving them to contact their elected officials directly.
But we know that Republicans across the country are already looking at the bill signed into law yesterday as a roadmap for what they can accomplish in other places.
We're not going to let Republicans turn Georgia into a testing lab for more racist voter suppression — no matter what, we need to keep building the infrastructure to turn out voters in 2022. Rush a contribution of $5 or more today to help WFP call, knock, and text for progress all across the state and this country.
Keep knocking,
