Friend — we have some great news:
Barbara’s legislation to repeal the 2002 AUMF was sent to the Foreign Affairs Committee for markup. This is historic and moves us one step closer to ending the cycle of forever wars.
The Constitution states that the power to declare war rests with Congress. But in 2001, Congress voted to pass the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) that gave Presidents blank checks for endless war.
Barbara was the only member of Congress to vote against it.
Two decades later, consecutive presidents have used multiple AUMFs to wage unchecked war, costing thousands of lives and trillions of dollars. It’s time for a change.
Barbara has been fighting tooth and nail to repeal the 2001 and 2002 AUMFs ever since. With a Democratic majority in Washington, we finally have a chance. We must bring forever wars to an end by restoring the balance of power with Congress.
More than ever, Barbara needs to know you have her back on this important issue. Will you chip in $10 or anything you can afford to support Barbara’s work to end forever wars?
