Hi John,
In Oakland, a 75-year-old Asian man was assaulted while walking down the street and later died from his injuries.
In Queens, an elderly Asian woman was shoved to the ground by a random passerby, suffering multiple injuries.
In Atlanta, a hate-fueled gunman shot and killed 8 individuals in an attack targeting Asian women.
These brutal attacks on members of the AAPI community are just three recent examples out of the hundreds that have already been reported in 2021.
Despite the spike in anti-Asian violence, Donald Trump and the GOP continue to call COVID-19 “the China virus.” Trump made a point to use the phrase in one of his recent statements, and his loyalist Ted Cruz perpetuated the line that the virus came from a Wuhan lab.
Luckily, our AAPI leaders are stepping up to confront this scapegoating of Asian Americans. Rep. Grace Meng and Sen. Mazie Hirono are leading the charge to keep our communities safe by introducing a bill to facilitate federal oversight of hate crimes.
But tackling racism -- especially when it's being perpetuated by a former president -- is going to take more than policy. It's going to take all of us, including people like you, joining together to condemn this violence and uplift AAPI communities.
Trump and his allies won't stop spewing anti-Asian rhetoric, and anti-Asian attacks are still on the rise. It's clear that Republican lawmakers have turned their backs on the AAPI community.
We're quickly running out of resources to fight back against the GOP's bigotry, and we really need you to help make up the $3,928 shortfall we're facing today so we can defend our communities from racist violence.

Thank you so much, John. It's going to take a lot of work, but together, we can create a country that truly reflects the generosity and kindness of people like you.
