John,
Last night, the Republican governor of Georgia signed a law that would put Jim Crow restrictions on voters in another attempt to suppress the votes of Black and brown folks.
Georgia State Representative Park Cannon knew she couldn’t let this happen without a fight. So she went and knocked on Kemp’s door to demand answers. They arrested her.
We’re disappointed, but not surprised. Black women have been leading the charge against voter suppression and racial injustice for decades. That’s why Republicans have spent decades trying to silence us and further their racist agenda.
It’s why they arrested Rep. Cannon. It’s why they BOOED Cori after calling for the removal of our former white supremacist-in-chief. And it’s why Fox News has made Cori a regular target of their racist talking points.
It’s clear that our fight for racial justice is far from over. There’s a lot of work ahead of us to dismantle the forces of white supremacy in our country and continue protecting the rights of Black and brown voters.

In the 1920s, Mary McLeod Bethune stared down the KKK to help Black men vote.
In the 1960s, Amelia Boynton was beaten while marching for voting rights.
Yesterday, Rep. Cannon was arrested for fighting voter suppression.
And for the past weeks, Fox News has regularly attacked Cori for dividing our country because she spoke out against hate crimes.
Black women are still fighting the same fight they’ve fought for decades.
That’s why it’s so critical and historic that Cori is now leading as the first activist from the movement for Black lives to serve in Congress. She ran on a promise to take our fight for racial justice to the next level and she has gone above and beyond to deliver on that promise.
From calling out voter suppression legislation, pushing Joe Biden to make serious reforms to our criminal-legal system, and fighting to remove white supremacists from Congress — Cori is leading a bold movement in D.C.
In solidarity,
Team Cori
