Help fight back against voter suppression bills » [[link removed]]

FIRST: As Georgia Secretary of State, Brian Kemp orchestrated voter roll purges -- including one in the lead-up to his 2018 election as governor that election-law experts consider the “largest mass disenfranchisement” in U.S. history.

NEXT: In 2020 and 2021, voters fought back by turning out in droves to elect two senators and the president of their choice, without any evidence of widespread fraud.

THEN: Last night, the gerrymandered General Assembly fast tracked SB202 -- one of nearly two dozen voter suppression bills introduced in Georgia -- which drastically changes vote-by-mail, restricts drop boxes for absentee-voting, increases unnecessary voter ID requirements, and even criminalizes giving water to voters standing in line -- and then Governor Kemp signed it into law behind closed doors that same day.

We need to take action. Organizers on the ground in Georgia have been fighting against these blatantly racist voter suppression bills -- but the gerrymandered state legislature and the governor who manipulated his own election in 2018 to beat Stacey Abrams will stop at nothing to silence voters.

They know that the record-breaking voter turnout in 2020 and the January runoff -- especially with Black voters -- is a threat to their undemocratically-secured power.

One way to help voters in Georgia right now is to pass the For the People Act. This one nation-wide bill would help combat the 250+ voter restriction bills across the country -- including Georgia’s SB202. We are running a robust grassroots effort in target states to secure support from key senators. Chip in now. [[link removed]]

A.G. Holder believes the passage of SB202 is a shameful attempt to silence the will of the people and called out Republicans for their willingness to attack our representative democracy.

Georgia Republicans know this bill isn’t popular with voters -- it’s why the governor signed it into law so quickly behind closed doors at the State Capitol. In fact, Representative Park Cannon was arrested just for knocking on the door to try to witness the signing.

Instituting undemocratic changes behind closed doors is a textbook example of lack of transparency and accountability in government. We can take action to make meaningful change, though.

Donate to our For the People Act fund to help us connect voters in states like Georgia, Arizona, and Pennsylvania to their senators and ask for their support. It takes roughly $18,750 a week to keep these efforts running -- chipping in any amount helps! [[link removed]]

Across the country, state legislatures are implementing similar voter suppression laws under the guise of addressing mythical widespread “voter fraud.”

But as President Obama said, “election integrity” bills and the false narratives around them are misnomers -- they are just a coordinated scheme to formalize voter suppression tactics.
