** Transgender people over four times more likely than cisgender people to be victims of violent crime
------------------------------------------------------------
An analysis of the 2017 and 2018 National Crime Victimization Survey found transgender people are over four times more likely than cisgender people to experience violent victimization, including rape, sexual assault, and aggravated or simple assault. Households with a transgender person have higher rates of property victimization than cisgender households.

** New Interactive: LGBT people in all 50 states and large metro areas

The Williams Institute has created a data interactive with downloadable infographics that provide information on LGBT people in the country's 55 largest metro areas and all 50 states. The infographics include information about race, sex, age, parenting, education, and socioeconomic well-being and compare LGBT people to non-LGBT people on a range of socioeconomic characteristics.

** Introducing the LGBTI Global Small Grants Program
------------------------------------------------------------
The Williams Institute’s Global LGBTI Small Grants Program aims to encourage new empirical research focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex populations in the Global South (Latin America, Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East/North Africa, Asia, Pacific Islands) as well as amplify voices of researchers from those regions. The program will strengthen networking and knowledge exchange and provide mentorship from Williams Institute scholars.
