Folks, I’ll be honest — growing up as a Head Start kid, I never expected to run for Senate.

My dad was a union ironworker and my mom retired from our public schools. Growing up on a small farm in New Mexico, my family didn’t have much, but we had each other.

The only reason this campaign was ever possible was because I had people who stood up for me and had my back. Because I was raised to believe that even a kid from Nambé could achieve the American dream.

So, I ran — and with your support, we won our race, held this open seat, helped Democrats flip the Senate, and Mitch McConnell is no longer calling the shots.

For too long, we’ve seen Washington Republicans and the special interests who support them chip away at our future. I ran to bring the American dream back — for you, your kids, and for generations to come.

That means I’m fighting to make sure high-quality, affordable health care is a right for every American. I’m fighting for good jobs, strong protections for workers, and a faster recovery from COVID-19. I’m fighting to stop the abuses of the wealthy few and major corporations and stand up for working people.

I’m fighting for you, because you deserve to have a Senator who stands up for you and has your back. Now I’m asking you to have my back, too.

Our first end-of-quarter deadline of the year expires in a few days, and it’ll be our best chance to prove folks like you are committed to the work ahead. Will you stand with me to protect our Democratic majority and fight for the change this country deserves?

Most people don't have time to think about politics, but we all want the same basic things in life — affordable health care, clean air and water, a good-paying job, and a better future for our families.
