Arena Community,
Yesterday, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed an egregious voter suppression bill into law. We need to fight back.
The law makes it illegal to give water to people waiting in line to vote, restricts ballot drop boxes, curtails early voting in runoffs, and imposes new I.D. requirements for absentee ballots. This is not an isolated act. Republicans have introduced more than 250 voter suppression bills in 43 states. Many are specifically designed to suppress the vote in Black and brown communities in states with historic turnout in 2020.
One way to fight back against this power grab is to ensure Democrats have qualified, trained staff who can build winning campaigns. Between now and the 2022 midterms, Arena plans to train 1,500 people to work on and win elections. We’ve already started this urgent work, and last week 275 people graduated from the first Arena Academy of the year.
It costs $300 to train a future staffer, and 67% of Arena Academy participants receive a full or partial scholarship. We’re able to provide scholarships because of generous donors like you.
Make a monthly contribution of $10 or more to train a campaign staffer to fight back against Republican voter suppression and elect democrats at all levels of government.
Fighting back against the GOP’s coordinated power grab to suppress the vote is going to take all of us. In this new landscape, we need to invest early to build better and smarter campaigns. With your support, Arena can play a critical role in this work.
Arena Academy is a best-in-class training. In 2020, our graduates helped deliver victory for races up and down the ballot, including President Joe Biden, Senator Raphael Warnock, and Representative Mauree Turner.
We can’t let this blatant voter suppression go unnoticed and unchallenged. Make a monthly contribution of $10 or more to fight back against voter suppression in Georgia and all across the country.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
