Healing Groups for Black-Identified and Non-Black POC Entertainment Professionals


Black-Identified: Tuesday, April 6, 2 pm ET / 1 pm CT / 11 am PT
Non-Black POC: Thursday, April 8, 2 pm ET / 1 pm CT / 11 am PT

Healing with The Actors Fund provides Black-identified and Non-Black POC entertainment professionals a space to affirm experiences, discuss the impact of racial injustice within the entertainment industry and community as a whole, and foster a place for restorative dialog and compassion. These groups will also process disproportionate ways COVID-19 has affected non-white communities and provide support and resources between participants.

 


The Career Center

The Career Center offers a comprehensive suite of online programs and services that help entertainment industry and performing arts professionals to identify and find sideline work and discover new careers outside the industry.

Get started by attending The Career Center Orientation (Monday or Thursday* session) to enroll in the career services offered. Once you've done that, you can attend workshops including Resume Writing WorkshopCareer Journey* and more.

Financial Wellness

Financial Wellness workshops and seminars increase your financial knowledge and help you learn the tools and skills to support lifelong financial health and stability.

Take Budgeting Nuts & Bolts, proudly sponsored by Actors Federal Credit Union, to learn the basics of financial wellness. Additional workshops include Tax Matters: COVID-19 Stimulus and the Entertainment Community.

Health & Health Insurance

The Actors Fund offers personalized health insurance counseling and enrollment support, referrals to health care resources, and seminars on how to care for yourself.

You can also join us for Welcome to Medicare and Every Artist Insured: Getting Affordable Coverage in NY/NJ During COVID-19.

The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts, our primary and specialty care health center, is open for appointments. The Health Center accepts most insurance plans, including commercial insurances, several Marketplace/Exchange plans, Medicare and Workers’ Compensation. Call 212.930.7300 for an appointment.

Health Insurance HQ provides an update on the health care landscape from the expert team at The Actors Fund’s Artists Health Insurance Resource Center (AHIRC). In this month's issue: Learn how the American Rescue Plan Act will lower health insurance premiums for our community.

Housing

The Actors Fund operates several affordable housing residences across the country, and also offers resources to help you learn more about affordable housing opportunities and other housing-related issues you may encounter.

The waitlist to live at The Dorothy Ross Friedman Residence is shorter than ever. Learn more about eligibility and how to apply for low-income, shared housing in the heart of Manhattan.

Our Housing Connect 2.0 Tutorial will help applicants navigate New York City’s latest housing lottery system, understand changes to the process and show you how to set up a new profile. If you haven't already, we recommend that you participate in our Applying for Affordable Housing webinar as a prerequisite.
