The end of March is around the corner — which means our FEC fundraising deadline is also coming up. This deadline has never been more important. Let us explain.

This past month, tragedy has captured the nation’s attention not once, but twice. 8 people were killed—six of them Asian women—in attacks in the Atlanta area. Then just 6 days later, 10 people were shot and killed, including a police officer, in a horrific mass shooting at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado.

During the pandemic, gun violence never went away. But these recent tragedies have brought this crisis back into focus.

It doesn’t have to be like this. You see, the thing is — if we pass universal background checks, we can stop more of these tragedies before they happen. We can save lives.

So that’s why we have to ask:

Can you make a $3 donation to Giffords PAC? We’ll take that contribution and put it right to work passing the lifesaving bipartisan background checks bill that will be voted on in the Senate.

As more Americans become vaccinated and life slowly starts to return to normal, we need to keep our communities safe. We refuse to let our new normal include the rise of active shooters and terror in public places, yet again.

More of these shootings can be prevented if universal background checks get signed into law. We were so close two years ago, when this legislation was passed in the House — but Mitch McConnell valued his NRA allies more than the lives of the American people. He let the bill sit on his desk, untouched in the Senate.


That’s why we need to act fast. When lives are at stake, every moment counts. Every minute that passes without background checks poses a serious threat to us all.
