Dear John,
As the Passover Seder approaches, I invite those of you who celebrate the holiday to join me in reflecting on the question: "what responsibilities come with freedom?" After a year of restriction, isolation and loss, we approach this Spring with the freedom to imagine. We see the systemic problems plaguing our nation augmented by the virus: racial injustice, threats to our democracy, hateful incidents of antisemitism, health disparities and economic hardship to name a few. These issues stand in the way of achieving freedom for all. Yet through our awareness and action, we can work towards that goal.
ADL's Haggadah supplement, which you can find linked below, is intended to help you reflect on what freedom means to you, your connection to the concept, and how you can help advance freedom in your community. I hope it expands your thinking, leads to important conversations at your Seder table, and then drives you to action. As we rejoice in our own freedom this Passover, we must also take on the fight for freedom for all.
Wishing those who celebrate a Passover filled with health, happiness and peace.
Sincerely,

Doron F. Ezickson
