Americans for Peace Now

Dear Friend,

As we gather tomorrow for our second year of Covid seders, we may find ourselves at a table together with family and friends, or we may be gathering, once again, on Zoom. However we mark the day and tell the Passover story, the message of liberation remains the same. We were once enslaved; now we are free. And our freedom affords us the privilege and opportunity to help others who are not yet liberated.

We at Americans for Peace Now believe that this ancient story of redemption is still applicable today. Our work is guided by the basic premise that in order to be free, in order to have justice for all, there needs to be peace.

But that freedom that has been passed down to us, generation after generation, is not free. It comes with responsibility. Our responsibility, mine and yours, is to take up the mantle of justice and to carry it, as long and as far as we can.

That is why we must act. We must agitate. We must push, even when it is uncomfortable, to bring about the just and peaceful future that we strive for.

I hope you have received our Passover letter in the mail this week (you can also read it on our website here). It not only tells the story of the 40 years of APN, but it includes the voices of those leaders who have established and led this work for four decades. We are proud to have Mark Rosenblum, Debra DeLee and Aviva Meyer speak to what moves them most deeply about our vision for peace for all Israelis and Palestinians.

From all of us at APN, our best wishes for a happy and healthy and safe Passover to you and your family. We are on the road to a peaceful future together, and I am grateful to be traveling with you.

Chag sameach, happy Passover, and warm wishes for the new season.

Sincerely,
