John,

It's time to phase out fossil fuel development on public lands and waters in the United States. We can’t afford not to.

Pollution from the world's already-producing oil and gas fields — if fully developed — would push global warming well past 1.5 degrees Celsius. That means new leasing of federal oil, gas and coal is incompatible with U.S. climate goals.

In January President Biden took a critical first step by pausing new oil and gas leasing on public lands pending a long-overdue study of these activities' climate impacts.

Now we need your help to make sure the administration does a rigorous review: [link removed]

If that review follows the science, it'll show that new federal fossil fuel leasing isn’t compatible with U.S. climate goals and will only worsen the climate and extinction crises.

The highest and best use of our commonly held wild places is to provide safe harbor for diverse species by protecting the ecosystems upon which they — and we — depend.

Our climate future needs your voice today: Tell Interior Secretary Haaland to phase out dirty, destructive development on public lands and waters: [link removed]
