Hi John,
Tonight at midnight is the close of books for the first quarter of our campaign. A few things will happen then:
- Everything we raised will show this is a strong campaign, and we’re going to win.
- We’ll invest further in building our team and getting critical tools we need for canvassing.
- We’ll put together a public report showing how much we raised and how many contributions we raised it with. So far, we’ve received 1,080 contributions.
Fundraising has been amazing — especially yesterday after Mike Gravel (yes, the Mike Gravel who read the Pentagon Papers into the Congressional record after newspapers were barred from printing them) sent an email to his list for me.
But I’m still $3,283 away from my goal.
My first quarterly report is what my opponent and the rest of the corporate establishment will use to judge how strong our campaign is. Let’s show them what a strong, grassroots campaign looks like.
With your help, we’ll be able to recruit more organizers, knock on more doors, buy more t-shirts for volunteers, talk to more voters, bring our message to people across our (giant) district, and WIN. If you can, please donate whatever you can right now:
Our message of housing, healthcare, and jobs for all is resonating across the entire district — with Democrats and Republicans alike. That’s because even though this is a safe, Democratic district, it’s not a “conservative district” or a “liberal district.” It’s a working-class district. And the working class desperately needs these policies.
That’s why I’m running for Congress: to fight for people like you and me, not corporate donors.
Thank you so much for your support,
-Rebecca
P.S. You may have seen the news today that Trump and some of his officials have been seeking intelligence from foreign leaders and agencies to discredit Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
Yesterday Trump also threatened a Civil War if he’s impeached.
I grew up overseas while my father was in the foreign service, and every two years on home leave we’d visit my grandparents in rural Virginia. There my grandfather, who graduated from West Point on D-Day, would teach me about the Constitution and how his oath was to that document — not the president.
The oath he took is the same oath my father took as a foreign service officer, and it’s the same oath I’ll take as a member of Congress:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”
Trump is a domestic enemy of the Constitution, and he must be impeached.
Facts are facts, and oaths are oaths. If you agree, please contribute now to send me to Congress, where I will always hold the powerful accountable:
